Independent Living
Independent living Communities include senior apartments and Room and Board. These Communities are appropriate for residents who need little or no assistance with activities of daily living. They include monthly apartment rent, meals, transportation services, housekeeping and laundry. Some offer activities as well as a one-time community fee.
RCFE
An RCFE is a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, also referred to as Board and Care Homes. They are licensed by the Department of Social Services and offer non-medical or custodial care that assists seniors with ADLs (activities of daily living) in a comfortable, home-like setting. These private homes provide room, meals and personal care services that include bathing, dressing, grooming, medication management and incontinence care. Caregivers provide the supervision necessary to make sure residents are safe. RCFE’S can also accommodate seniors with special dietary restrictions such as low sodium, low sugar, pureed and mechanical soft foods. These homes also have hospice, bed-bound and total care waivers and are able to care for patients with different levels of Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Assisted Living
Assisted Living Communities are a licensed care facility that assists seniors who require various levels of care in a larger community setting. The basic services include monthly apartment rent, meals in a dining room environment, transportation, a full schedule of activities, 24-hr supervision, housekeeping and laundry. Many differ in their levels of care such as transfers and diabetes management and some may also include Memory Care for those that are memory impaired. Assisted Living Communities are great for those who enjoy a more active, social environment.
Memory Care
Seniors with Alzheimer’s or Dementia can rest assure they will be safe in a Memory Care Community. These specialized facilities are secured and designed to help residents manage the daily challenges of memory loss. These communities also manage various levels of care including assistance with ADLs, medication management with 24-hour supervision creating a fulfilling and nurturing environment. They also provide a full schedule of activities.
In-Home Care
For seniors who would benefit from remaining in the comfort of their own home, caregivers can provide companionship and support ranging from hourly/weekly/ to 24/7 care. A personal care plan is discussed to ensure seniors receive the assistance and supervision they need to keep them safe. Services include assistance with ADLs, housekeeping, errands, meal planning, cooking, incontinent care, medication management and transportation to doctor’s appointments.
